Pheromones: Do they Really Work?

Are these pheromones responsible for finding our mates? Know the truth about pheromones from researchers by reading below.

I am a very curious guy and I always like to know what is happening around me. Recently, a thought crossed my mind concerning how we get attracted to the members of the opposite sex. I began my research by reading journals, books, and even the internet. To my surprise, a research has been conducted and concluded that animals (including humans) secret certain chemicals called Pheromones for attracting members of the opposite sex.

So what exactly are pheromones?

According to my findings, Pheromones are airborne chemicals emitted to attract members of the opposite sex according to WebMd.
Also a University of Toronto biologist Darryl Gwynne defines it: "Pheromones are chemicals that other members of the same species detect and respond to.” The odorless chemicals drift through air until they're sniffed into an animal's nose where the vomeronasal organ (VNO), a supersensitive organ wired directly to the midbrain, registers the chemicals. "In the brain, pheromones trigger instinctive animal behavior and influence the endocrine [hormone-producing] glands," says Milos Novotny, director of the Institute for Pheromone Research at Indiana University. Scientists haven't figured out how pheromones work, but they've observed that chemicals make mating sparks fly in animals.

How do the pheromones affect our social life?

Many researchers believe that pheromones also help to make people feel comfortable around you, and want to be in your presence. In other words, pheromones may not just be purely a sexual attractant. Instead, pheromones may also help trigger non-sexual desires to be near a particular person.

If this is true, then pheromones are even more important to us than we ever thought possible.

At the present, this appears to be just a theory. But it makes sense. If pheromones are truly capable of arousing sexual desire in the opposite sex, then it's not a stretch to believe that pheromones are equally capable of arousing social desires in the same manner.

Either way, it is clear that pheromones are extremely powerful and can definitely influence the sexual desires in others (whether it is with humans or other species).

What if our bodies don’t produce enough pheromones?

According to researchers, our bodies have lost the ability to produce enough to make a significant effect to the members of the opposite sex due to changes in environment, food and other social factors. The use of deodorants and antiperspirants has neutralized the effects of the natural pheromones as well.

Companies found loopholes?

It also surprised me that there are so many companies that sprung up claiming that they have a solution the pheromones problem.

Companies like Nexus Pheromones claims that it has the wonder perfume applied at certain spots, rejuvenate relationships, increase self confidence, sexual appeal.
Others like Attract Women Now have simply put their information in form of a book
